Over the Ear Headphones

Panasonic RP-HTF600-S Stereo Headphones

 Panasonic RP-HTF600-S Stereo Headphones

For the price, this pair of headphones is simply terrific. They have a great design that fits over your entire ear, very important for the more fussy amongst us. They have fantastic bass, mid range and treble

Panasonic RP-HTX7-W1

Panasonic RP-HTX7s-W1

Another great showing by Panasonic, these headphones are a great buy for the price. Responding to sounds as low as 7 Hz these headphones have THE bass. If you demand strong bass from your headphones, these are the choice. Truthfully, the only thing preventing these taking top spot is the retro style design and the impedance being lower. They might just be better than the first for most people.

Key Specifications:

Frequency Response: 7 Hz – 22kHz
Impedance: 40 ohms
Sensitivity: 99 dB

Sennheiser HD201 Lightweight Headphones

Sennheiser HD201 Lightweight Headphones

My pair of headphones for personal use and a good pair at that. They have lasted a solid 3 years of basically daily use and in fact include a 2 year manufacturers warranty which is absurd for any hardware this low cost. It is one of Amazon’s best selling items, has great sound for the cost and also features comfortable ear pieces that fit comfortably around the ears. Furthermore, these headphones just never seem to break. I have sat on them a few times and even when it seemed like they were broken it turned out they were not. You cannot go wrong with this set of headphones.

Key Specifications:

Frequency Response: 21 Hz – 18 kHz
Impedance: 24 ohms
Sensitivity: 108 dB

Sennheiser HD 202 II Professional Headphones

Sennheiser HD 202 II Professional Headphones

These headphones are focused more towards professional usage such as for DJs. They feature noise cancellation and that sort of stuff, great for people looking for a good pair of headphones to use for software like fruity loops. Based on the specifications it may be argued they are superior to the HD201, but the HD201 has simply proven itself in terms of durability and longevity to become a staple headphone.

Key Specifications:

Frequency Response: 18 Hz – 18 kHz
Impedance: 32 ohms
Sensitivity: 115 dB

Koss PortaPro

 Koss PortaPro

The Koss PortaPro headphones are designed to be portable and carried about, with a specific way of being folded up whereupon the steel headband wraps over the speaker pieces. Overall they are a quality item and feature a great frequency range for treble specifically, only beaten on this list by the Panasonic RP-HTF600-S. Interestingly, they beat those headphones on Impedance and Sensitivity and it is debateable whether they should be placed higher on the list or not. A great pair of headphones

Key Specifications:

Frequency Response: 15 Hz – 25kHz
Impedance: 60 ohms
Sensitivity: 101 dB

In Ear Headphones

iLuv iEP505 Premium Earphones

 iLuv iEP505 Earphones

aThe quality of these headphones for the price and considering they are in air headphones is simply amazing. A frequency response of 16 Hz seems almost impossible, beating out most of the over the ear headphones on bass response which is just bizarre. Nice headphones in all and they are not all pink by the way.

Key Specifications:

Frequency Response: 16 Hz – 22 kHz
Impedance: 16 ohms
Sensitivity: 105 dB
