Google Chromecast is Google’s latest technology product for streaming media directly to your television from your WiFi network. It plugs directly into your HDTV and from there you can basically stream any media you want using either your laptop or a smartphone as the remote control.

• Watch YouTube, Netflix and GooglePlay videos via it or any videos you can find on the web.

One of the major positives is the incredibly low price of the item coming in at $35. For what is basically a little computer that connects to your WiFi network and plays videos using your television, $35 is an incredibly low price. It really is almost a steal at that price and it will not surprise me to see these in nearly every household quite soon.

The main negative of the device is that it is simply not as easy to set up as Google has let on. There are quite a few little issues with it, primarily that if your TV does not fit the requirements (HDMI 1.4) then you need to have an external power adapter plugged into it. What I mean by this is that it is not powered by the TVs power supply, you need to plug it in using the provided adapter which is not a major issue but its not as elegant as I would personally have liked.

The next negative is that it does not come with any remote so you need either a laptop or a smartphone to use as a remote. I guess this is not a big deal as everyone and their dog has a smartphone now but it still would have been nice if a very basic remote control came with it. It just would have added that final touch to push it to a five out of five product really.

The simple version of the entire review is that for $35 it is a very nice product and is selling very quickly.
