Filtered Straw
The LifeStraw is a filtered straw for drinking water with an in-built filter to enable you to drink from basically any water source. It works like a very fine version of a pool filtration system, blocking out protozoans and bacteria. It also gives the water a generally cleaner look by filtering out dirt particles and the like.
As with a pool filtration system it can also be cleaned by reversing the flow of water through the filter. Basically by sucking in some water for a bit then blowing on it to push the water out. Doing this with tap water is particularly effective for cleaning. It is worth noting that you need to submerge the end of it and suck on it for a bit in order for it to work, to get the water passing through the filter.
Details:
- Removes at least 99.9% of waterborne protozoans.
- Removes 99.9999% (the exact number) of waterborne bacteria.
- Lasts for about 1000 Litres of water (plenty).
Overall:
Overall a very good product that makes for a good alternative to boiling water. Almost a must have item for survivalists and preppers. I wonder what Bear Grylls things of it, probably not rough enough for him.
