Pineapple Corer

Pineapples are definitely a pain to prepare as they have a particularly obtrusive outer skin. This pineapple corer drill solves the issue quite easily and can basically prepare a full pineapple in under a minute. How it works is you cut the top off the pineapple with a knife, press the corer into it and twist it downwards almost like a drill. Then you just pull it up and out and the result is basically pictured below.

Pineapple Corer

Features:

  • This item both peels the core of the pineapple out and slices the pieces of the core.
  • The skin/shell is preserved and can then be used as a bowl. I’ve never seen anyone do that, but it does seem like quite a good idea.
  • The metal of the blade is stainless steel.

Amazon: 4.5/5

One of the best things about the item is that it is so lowly priced at roughly $4. Given that there are pineapple coring drills that cost about $200, this item is just so cheap really. I mean it is a very cheap item as well as good one with many positive reviews. The construction is good and the serrated blade makes it fairly easy to dig through the pineapple.

The first negative quality of the item is that storing it can be a bit of a pain. Basically the serrated edge of it at the bottom of the device is quite sharp and if you fumble around in your kitchen, specifically at night as many of us are inclined to do, you can cut yourself on it. I guess this is no different than a knife but knives tend to be quite easily placed into knife racks. This item is really too bulky for that.

Some people have also reported differing quality issues between various supplies but it is hard to say if this is accurate or not. Overall the item is quite good and works well, with overwhelmingly positive reviews of it.
